Advocacy Support Circle: My Kid’s Not Like Other Kids – Is That Normal
Led by a member of the Family Services Team, you are invited to join this session to discuss the challenges and strategies discussed in October's Advocate Together. October’s Advocacy Support Circle theme is My Kid's Not Like Other Kids - Is That Normal? In this event, we'll explore how the tools and strategies discussed in the October Issue of Advocate Together can help you support your child in situations that may not be built to meet their needs. Why Horror? The History and Context of our Favorite Scary Stories with Kaytlin Smith
This presentation intends to explain why we revel in all things scary every Halloween season through the history and contexts of horror media. Participants will examine key authors, novels, and films, situating them in time to understand what makes the genre so popular. The presentation will encourage students to engage critically with media, considering the cultural implications of horror literature to become well rounded readers and thinkers as they head into another Halloween season. Insights from the Inside of Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, and Occupational Therapy with Kim Clairy
Autistic occupational therapist Kim Clairy, and her mystery writer husband, William, provide invaluable to how they work together to problem solve through sensory, emotional, social, and communication challenges Kim experiences because of sensory processing disorder (SPD) and autism. Talk with an Economist
Paolo Adajar is a Ph.D. candidate at MIT studying the economics of education: what makes schools “successful”, how to help students access curricula at their level, and the effectiveness of race-neutral alternatives to affirmative action. Paolo graduated from the Davidson Academy in 2017 and from MIT with a Bachelor’s in Mathematical Economics in 2021. He didn't always know he wanted to be an economist — his path led him through math, science, teaching, and much more — but he's glad to be on this path now. (Young Scholars – Only Event)

Parent Panel – “Navigating Acceleration”
The Parent Panel Series features parents of Davidson Alumni sharing their unique journeys raising a profoundly gifted child. Although the path isn’t always clear, our panels aim to provide attendees a perspective of what the path can look like from parents who have been there, done that. This event will be 75-minutes-long and an open floor Q&A portion. In this Parent Panel session, you’ll hear about the topic of “Radical Acceleration”. Our parent panelists will be sharing their experiences and their student’s journey with accelerating two or more grades. (Young Scholars – Only Event)

This hour long information session provides attendees the opportunity to hear more about the elements of the Davidson Fellows scholarship. The event will include a presentation on eligibility, scholarship categories, rules and regulation, and how to apply. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions after the presentation. For those who are unable to attend, a recording will be shared and posted to the Davidson Fellows page.
